It's A Major Award!

I feel so honored! I've had 2 fellow bloggers(Confessions of a Kitchen Witch & Pagan In The Rough) nominate me for this lovely award! It's a real motivator to keep me working on this blog and make it live up to the award. :) Thank you ladies!!!

So, here are the rules once you've been awarded:

1. Thank the person who gave this to you.

2. Copy the logo and place it in your blog.

3. Link the person who nominated you.

4. Name 7 things about yourself that no one would really know.

5. Nominate seven 'Kreativ Bloggers'

6. Post links to the seven blogs you nominate

7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know you nominated them.

7 Things You Probably Don't Know About Me:

1. I was adopted when I was 6 years old, and my adoptive parents legally changed my name. I went from being an Aimee to a Michelle overnight. Sadly, my "new" family ended up being as bad as my "old" one, and now as an adult the only extended family I have are my sister and my husband's parents.

2. I LOVE Mickey Mouse! I'm addicted to that little rodent, and Disney World is one of my favorite places on earth.

3. I love to cook! I cook from the heart, and rarely measure anything. It makes sharing my personal recipes a bit difficult. :)

4. Skittles are my favorite candy.

5. I've lived in 3 different countrys...the U.S. of course, as well as England (where my son was born) and Spain.

6. My husband spoils me rotten. He always lets me have my way. Lucky for him, I don't take advantage of this...at least not all the time. And I often insist on doing things his way instead.

7. I'm a bookaholic!! I love to read, and I love to buy books! I've always got a stack of books around waiting to be read, and a list of them waiting to be bought.

My 7 Nominees For This Award:

1. Domestic Witch ~ Because she has such wonderful posts with great pictures and stories of her family.
2. The Apron Goddess ~ Because not only does Julia have a great blog, but she's an amazingly sweet person.
3. Clairedulalune ~ Because she does some amazing picture blogs taking you right along with her on her adventures.
4. Bringing Up Salamanders ~ Becuase she has a great blog with a mixture of family life, Pagan faith, and her own adorable creations, and she brings it all to us from Brazil.
5. Domesticated Gypsy ~ Because this sweet gypsy will give you a little taste of everything on her blog: food, poetry, old couches, rainbows, and more.
6. Byrum Art ~ This blog is worth the visit just to see the artwork alone! But you'll get more than just art advertisement in this blog. I just love stopping by to visit it.
7. The Candy Corn Chronicles ~ This blog has some amazing photographs and some adorable crafts on display. I personally love the little witch hats!
So, drop by and check out these great blogs, meet some really nice ladies, and have a great weekend! :)
Hugs,
CC

Blog Help: Button Link Box

Hello! I've been busy creating a couple of buttons that people can add to their blogs if they like. I know many of you do button exchanges, and I even have several of your buttons on my blog. It was requested of me this week that I post a button so that others can show it on their blogs. So, the buttons you see here are the result of that request.

This is my dilemma...I don't have a clue how to make the little box that will show my button and put the html code under it for people to copy and paste. I've seen several of you with these scrolling boxes, and would be ever so grateful if you could help me out by pointing me in the right direction for getting one of my own.

Thank you so much, in advance for any help you can offer.

Brightest Blessings,
CC

Emotional Vampires...In Cyber Space?

Most of us have heard of Emotional Vampires(EVs). You know who they are. Those people that seem to suck the energy right out of you with all of their drama and negativity. You may be in a great mood with lots of positive energy and great intentions for your day...then you bump into one of these people, they start talking, and by the time the encounter is over you've lost that positive attitute you had and you suddenly feel drained. These people just wear you out!!

Well, I honestly haven't had one of these people in my life for a while. The people I see from week to week seem to be very upbeat and positive most of the time, and even when things aren't going right for them, they don't seem to drain me because of it.

But I have managed to run into an online Emotional Vampire. Cyberspace is supposed to be my escape. I get online to chat and gain information and have fun. But each time I run into this person online, she manages to take that from me and make me want to run kicking and screaming from my laptop. LOL
I have had the joy of being nominated by 2 fellow bloggers for the same award, and after a run in with this EV earlier, I'm just not in the right frame of mind right now to blog about it. And that bums me out! LOL So, this is my, "I need to complain and vent a little bit" post, and hopefully later this evening I will be in a better mood and will have regained some of my positive energy from earlier in the day. If I can regain some of that positivity, I will be back to blog and show off my award. :)

Meanwhile, if you have any Emotional Vampires in your life (real world or cyber space), check out this article on how to handle it: Dealing With Emotional Vampires
I hope you are having a blessed day!!

Hugs,
CC

My Home and Hearth Blog

I haven't been feeling great for the last couple of days, so I haven't been on here to blog. But earlier this week I started working on a second blog. It is devoted to Home and Hearth...recipes, crafts, etc. I've got 2 posts on there. The first is a short intro, and the second is a recipe I found online that looks like fun for Halloween. I'm not promising daily posts over there, but I should have some good stuff to share from time to time. If you are interested pop on over and check it out. :)

Merry Mabon

The Autumn Equinox will be here tomorrow, Sept. 22, 2009. I must admit I am preparing for it rather late, but I do want to observe it in some small way at least. Mabon, like most other sabbats this year has snuck up on me. Being so new to all of this, I am not yet accustomed to the Pagan holidays. I know that in time I will learn to anticipate them, and will know what to do for each one. Now, however, I am reading and learning all I can to prepare. I will share some of that here with you. I have collected this information from multiple sources, and combined the information into one location.

Mabon or Autumn Equinox is the day that once again we will find night and day in perfect balance. It is a time to say goodbye to long warm summer days and welcome in the shorter cooler days of fall, and give thans for the second harvest.

Symbolism of Mabon: Equality and Balance.

Symbols of Mabon: wine, gourds, pine cones, acorns, grains, corn, apples, pomegranates, vines such as ivy, dried seeds, and horns of plenty.

Herbs of Mabon: hazel, corn, aspen, acorns, oak sprigs, autumn leaves, wheat stalks, cypress cones, pine cones, harvest gleanings, benzoin, ferns, grains, honeysuckle, marigold, milkweed, myrrh, passionflower, rose, sage, solomon's seal, tobacco, thistle, and vegetables.

Foods of Mabon: Breads, nuts, apples, pomegranates, beans, and vegetables such as corn, potatoes, squash, carrots, and onions.

Incense of Mabon: Autumn Blend-benzoin, myrrh, sage, and basil.

Colors of Mabon: Red, orange, russet, maroon, brown, and gold.

Stones of Mabon: Sapphire, lapis lazuli, and yellow agates.

Activities of Mabon: Making wine, gathering dried herbs, plants, seeds and seed pods, walking in the woods, scattering offerings in harvested fields, offering libations to trees, adorning burial sites with leaves, acorns, and pine cones to honor those who have passed over.

Spellworking of Mabon: Protection, prosperity, security, and self-confidence. Also those of harmony and balance.

Deities of Mabon: Goddesses-Modron, Morgan, Epona, Persephone, Pamona and the Muses. Gods-Mabon, Thoth, Thor, Hermes, and The Green Man.

"Mabon is considered a time of the Mysteries. It is a time to honor Aging Deities and the Spirit World. Considered a time of balance, it is when we stop and relax and enjoy the fruits of our personal harvests, whether they be from toiling in our gardens, working at our jobs, raising our families, or just coping with the hussle-bussle of everyday life. May your Mabon be memorable, and your hearts and spirits be filled to overflowing! " ~ Excerpt from website listed below.

Books To Read

I love books! It's like an addiction!! I don't finish the book I'm reading before I find half a dozen more I want to read. So many books...so little time. LOL

Something I've noticed as I reach out to others in search of knowledge and information is that people are great about recommending books. (Would that be considered enabling my addiction?) What happens is I go to the bookstore or get online and I can't remember the names of the books that have been recommended. So...I'm going to use this blog post to list the books that have been recommended to me. Please feel free to post a comment and recommend your favorite books. They can be fiction or non fiction, magick or non-magic...whatever you like! :) I'll take your book recomendations and update the blog with them so we will have a list to refer back to. How does that sound? I only have two to post right now, but will update this post as often as I can adding to the list as I get recommendations. LOL
